When questioned by the BBC’s Alex Forsyth about his use of provocative language on social media—including referring to Sir Keir as “sick” and “depraved,” describing Conservative Party members as “open border lunatics who deserve their extinction,” and labeling politicians from Labour and Conservative parties as “traitors”—Yusuf defended his choice of words. He pointed out that the term “traitor” is defined as one engaged in betrayal, and contended that “it is demonstrable that, for example, the Conservative Party has acted in betrayal of the people who voted for them.” Yusuf further claimed a “clear difference” between his language and the statements he has criticized from other parties.
Responding to the discussion on security, a spokesperson for the House of Commons emphasized the importance of ensuring that MPs and their staff can perform their duties safely, both within and outside Parliament.
