This summer, Croxteth Hall, one of Liverpool’s most cherished historic landmarks, will welcome visitors for a series of special Heritage Market events. After the successful hosting of similar markets at St George’s Hall and the Cunard Building, Liverpool City Council is bringing the initiative to Croxteth Hall, the former residence of the Earls of Sefton, on select Sundays throughout the season.
Attendees will have the chance to enjoy a self-guided exploration of the stunning hall while browsing an outdoor market featuring around 40 independent traders. Additionally, a smaller collection of stalls will be situated inside the hall on its ground floor. The tours provide a unique opportunity to experience the hall’s rich history and diverse architectural styles, which include Tudor, Georgian, and Queen Anne influences. Key attractions on the tour include the elegant Drawing Room, the impressive grand staircase, and the intriguing servants’ quarters.
The market will showcase a wide variety of offerings from local businesses, with products ranging from handmade crafts and jewellery to artwork and artisan foods. These events will be held from 11am to 4pm on Sunday 12 July, Sunday 16 August, and Sunday 13 September. Entry to the market is free, while tickets for the self-guided tours are sold on the day and can only be purchased using a card at the entrance on the hall’s ground floor. Admission fees are £5 for adults and £2 for children.
Visitors can also take advantage of the on-site Café 1575, located in The Library, which serves coffee, cakes, and lunch options during event hours. The café is dog-friendly and offers a relaxing environment to rest after touring the hall and shopping at the market. For parking, the closest public car park has the postcode L11 1EH, while accessible parking is available at the Conference Car Park via Flint Drive (postcode L12 0HB). Liverpool’s proud tradition of markets continues with this new offering, adding to the city’s long-established Great Homer Street Market and various farmers’, craft, and specialist markets.
