Lauren Bennett, a British singer known for her contribution to LMFAO’s 2011 chart-topping hit “Party Rock Anthem,” has passed away at the age of 37. The news was shared publicly by her former music group, G.R.L., through an Instagram post on Monday.
In their announcement, G.R.L. expressed profound sorrow over the loss of their beloved member. “It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Lauren,” the group wrote. “Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us.” No information regarding the cause of her death was disclosed, and Bennett’s representatives have not responded to requests for further comment.
“Party Rock Anthem,” which featured Bennett’s vocals, achieved remarkable success, ranking as the fifth most successful song of all time according to Billboard. The track held the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks in 2011. Bennett also appeared alongside members of LMFAO in the music video, which has accumulated over 2.5 billion views on YouTube.
In 2014, Bennett became part of the pop group G.R.L., a reimagining of The Pussycat Dolls, alongside singers Paula Van Oppen, Natasha Slayton, Simone Battle, and Emmalyn Estrada. The group released their most popular single, “Ugly Heart,” that same year and contributed to Pitbull’s track “Wild Wild Love.” Unfortunately, G.R.L. disbanded in 2015 following the death of member Simone Battle. Additionally, Bennett’s solo work included songs featured on the soundtracks for the films “Date Night” and “21 Jump Street.” G.R.L. concluded their statement honoring Bennett by saying, “We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us. Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved.
