An inquest has revealed that a missing 14-year-old girl died due to multiple stab wounds. Lilly Jones disappeared from her home in Blaina, Blaenau Gwent, on June 20 and was found two days later in the woodlands of Duffryn Park. The initial cause of death was reported as multiple stab wounds to the neck and chest.
During the brief opening of the inquest, authorities confirmed that emergency services responded to the scene in the woodlands, but Lilly was pronounced dead at the location. Senior Gwent Coroner Caroline Saunders commented on the distressing circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death and stated that an inquest was appropriate, although it was postponed because the police investigation is still ongoing.
A 14-year-old boy has been charged with Lilly’s murder and appeared in court last week. He has not entered a plea and remains in custody pending further court dates. Another hearing involving the youth, who cannot be named due to his age, is scheduled for later this month, with a trial expected to take place in November.
The inquest itself has been tentatively scheduled for April 6 of next year. Meanwhile, the legal process continues as police investigations proceed, and the court prepares for upcoming proceedings related to the tragic death of the teenager
