Men missing for a week found dead in car in Newton with Clifton

Two men who had been reported missing by their families over a week ago were found deceased in a vehicle that had crashed and was concealed in dense bushes. The bodies of William Hutchinson, aged 31, and Stuart Tallis, aged 27, were discovered on Saturday at midday BST inside a blue Peugeot 106 located near the A584 Preston New Road in Newton with Clifton.

According to Lancashire Police, Hutchinson was last seen on June 24 in Preston, while Tallis was reported missing three days afterward, also in Preston. The vehicle was located by specialized officers and described as being “hidden from view” within thick undergrowth beside the westbound carriageway.

A police spokesperson stated, “Whilst formal identification is yet to take place, we believe we have found William and Stuart. Their loved ones are aware of the extremely upsetting development and our thoughts are with them at this distressing time. They are being supported by specially-trained officers.” The authorities have requested any witnesses who might have seen the Peugeot shortly before the crash, which is believed to have occurred at 05:30 BST on June 24, to come forward.

In addition, officers have asked drivers to review any dashcam footage that could help with the investigation. Sergeant Martin Wilcock commented, “Two men have lost their lives in what appears to be extremely tragic circumstances, and my thoughts are very much with their loved ones at this sad time.”
