Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after car hits shoppers

A man has been apprehended on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident where a car struck multiple pedestrians on a busy shopping street in West London. The event took place around 14:30 BST on Saturday along Ealing Broadway. In total, five people sustained injuries, with three of them requiring hospital treatment.

According to authorities, none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening. The Metropolitan Police reported that the driver, a 34-year-old man originally from Somalia, fled after the collision but was later stopped and arrested in nearby Grange Park. He faces charges including dangerous driving and attempted murder.

Although counter-terrorism officers were involved early in the investigation, the police have stated that the incident is not being treated as terrorism-related. The Metropolitan Police emphasized that they are maintaining an open perspective regarding any possible motives behind the event.

Videos shared on social media captured paramedics providing aid to victims while crowds of shoppers looked on. The London Ambulance Service confirmed that multiple crews and an air ambulance responded to the scene.
