A suspect has been taken into custody following the discovery of a suspicious death in west Belfast. Law enforcement officers responded to the incident on Saturday in the Helen’s Wood Court area of Dunmurry. The individual apprehended remains held by police as investigations continue.
Independent councillor Paul Doherty shared that local residents expressed feelings of shock and concern about the event. Reflecting on the situation, Doherty emphasized his sympathy for those closest to the deceased, stating, “My thoughts are first and foremost with the person’s family and friends, who will be facing unimaginable grief at this time.” He also urged anyone possessing relevant information to get in touch with the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) to aid ongoing inquiries.
Sinn Féin MLA Órlaithí Flynn commented on the incident, describing her reaction as one of shock and sadness. In a message posted on Facebook, she said, “My immediate thoughts are with their family and friends. Their grief will be immeasurable right now.” Flynn similarly called on the public to provide the PSNI with any details they might have concerning the case.
