A 25-year-old man has died following a stabbing incident on a busy high street, and three individuals have been charged with his murder. The victim, Gino Robb, was found with severe knife injuries on Shields Road in the Byker area of Newcastle on Tuesday evening. Emergency services responded to reports of an assault at 19:25 BST and transported him to hospital, where he later succumbed to his wounds.
The authorities have charged Jed Grieve, 33, from Orpington Avenue, Walker, along with two teenagers aged 14 and 16, who cannot be named due to legal restrictions. All three are scheduled to appear at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on Monday in connection with the case. In addition, Northumbria Police confirmed that two men, aged 22 and 24, and a 16-year-old boy, previously arrested on suspicion of murder, have been released on bail as investigations continue.
Another individual, a 40-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, has also been granted bail pending further inquiries. Meanwhile, police presence remains strong in the Byker and Walker neighborhoods as the investigation proceeds. Detective Chief Inspector Mark Atherton has emphasized the importance of public assistance in solving the case.
Det Ch Insp Atherton appealed for information specifically concerning two people seen on an electric motorbike shortly before the incident. He explained, “As part of our investigation, we are continuing to ask for information from anyone who saw two people on an electric motorbike which we believe entered Shields Road from the area of Grace Street in the minutes leading up to the incident, before then heading back along Shields Road and back into the area of Grace Street.”
