BBC pulls new Ashley Cain series after sexist language accusations

A new season of the BBC documentary series *Ashley Cain: Into the Danger Zone* was filmed earlier this year, but its broadcast date has not been set. The BBC has since confirmed that there are no upcoming projects involving Ashley Cain.

The controversy arose after abusive and sexualized language directed at women was discovered on Cain’s social media account on X (formerly Twitter). These posts, which have now been removed, reportedly included derogatory terms such as “sluts” and “psychos,” along with inappropriate jokes about violence towards women.

In response to the revelations, a BBC spokesperson issued a statement condemning the language, despite the posts being several years old. The statement acknowledged a failure in the vetting and social media screening process conducted by the production company and announced an ongoing internal investigation to improve these checks. The BBC emphasized its commitment to ensuring that all individuals associated with the organization uphold its values and standards. Consequently, the new series of *Into the Danger Zone* will not be aired, and no further collaborations with Cain are planned.

Ashley Cain, a former professional footballer for Coventry City FC, transitioned into reality television and podcasting, gaining wider public attention. He also competed as a semi-finalist on *Celebrity MasterChef* in 2025. The initial season of *Into the Danger Zone*, which features Cain visiting some of the most perilous locations globally and engaging with marginalized young men, remains accessible on BBC iPlayer. The BBC has reached out to True North, the production company behind the series, for further comment
