A 30-year-old man has been formally charged following the stabbing of a 17-year-old girl in Brierfield, Lancashire. The young woman suffered wounds to her neck after being attacked on Wood Street at around 3 p.m. last Friday. Authorities have classified the incident as attempted murder.

The individual named Junaid Nawaz, who is described by Lancashire Police as a British-born local with Pakistani heritage, faces charges beyond the attempted murder count. He has also been charged with carrying a knife in a public place. Nawaz is scheduled to appear before a Blackburn court on Monday to answer these allegations.

The teenager, who is also believed to be of Pakistani descent and from the local community, was promptly treated in hospital and was discharged the following day, Saturday. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the violent incident.
