Strictly Come Dancing: Delta Goodrem becomes third celebrity to join battle for Glitterball trophy

Australian singer and actress Delta Goodrem has been confirmed as the third celebrity participant for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing. She joins fellow contestants, EastEnders star Lacey Turner and reality TV personality Dani Dyer, in the competition for the coveted Glitterball trophy set to begin airing in September.

Throughout her career, Goodrem has performed on various stages, including television, theatre, film sets, and global concert tours. Reflecting on this new venture, she expressed her enthusiasm by saying, “There is, however, one stage I’ve never stepped onto and that is the ballroom floor. I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Strictly and can’t wait to get started.” Goodrem first gained fame through the Australian soap opera Neighbours and recently represented Australia in the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest.

Lacey Turner, known for her role as Stacey Slater on BBC One’s EastEnders since 2004, was the first contestant publicly announced for the 24th series. Turner, a recipient of both a British Soap Award and a National Television Award, also has credits in dramas such as BBC’s Our Girl. Sharing her excitement and nervousness in an Instagram video, she said, “I’m so excited and so terrified at the same time,” adding that after seeing many friends participate, she felt it was time to “pluck up the courage and make my way on to the dance floor.”

Reality star Dani Dyer, who first gained fame on Love Island in 2018, will be making a return to Strictly after last year’s unfortunate ankle injury during rehearsals, which forced her withdrawal before the competition started. She shared her anticipation for this series, stating, “I just cannot wait to get my dancing shoes back on and hopefully this time around I can actually make it to week one! I’m just over the moon and cannot wait to find out who else is doing it.” Dyer has a significant social media following and is married to footballer Jarrod Bowen. Her return was warmly welcomed by head judge Shirley Ballas and new co-host Josh Widdicombe, who expressed his excitement on Instagram.

This year’s Strictly Come Dancing features a fresh presenting team with Josh Widdicombe joining Emma Willis and Johannes Radebe following the departures of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. Shirley Ballas, speaking on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, highlighted the impressive line-up, hinting that there will be some “wow” moments. She also praised the chemistry among the new hosts, explaining that extensive chemistry tests brought them together effectively. Despite several new faces and changes, Ballas assured viewers that the show would retain its familiar feel, suggesting only minor tweaks rather than major overhauls. Alongside Ballas, judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke will return, supported by the regular roster of professional dancers including Amy Dowden, Dianne Buswell, Katya Jones, Vito Coppola, and Aljaz Skorjanec
