Steven Spielberg, the renowned American filmmaker, made an unexpected visit to a pub in central London during a quiz night themed around his own body of work. The event took place at The Devonshire in Soho and was hosted by BBC Radio 1’s film critic Ali Plumb on a Friday evening.
Accompanying Spielberg was actor Colman Domingo, who appears alongside him in Spielberg’s newest movie, Disclosure Day. During the gathering, The Devonshire’s co-owner, Oisín Rogers, shared with the BBC that Spielberg expressed having a “lovely time” and mentioned he “really enjoyed” the Guinness he was drinking.
Following the event, Ali Plumb posted photos on Instagram showing Spielberg and Domingo mingling with the crowd, accompanied by the caption, “I also cannot believe this happened.” The post sparked reactions from fans and celebrities alike, including former BBC Radio 2 presenter Zoe Ball, who humorously responded with, “You’re going to need a bigger pub,” alluding to Spielberg’s iconic film Jaws.

The plot centers on meteorologist Margaret Fairchild, played by Blunt, and cybersecurity expert Daniel Kellner, portrayed by O’Connor, who uncovers evidence of a deep cover-up and becomes a target as powerful entities attempt to suppress the truth. This film also marks Spielberg’s return to extraterrestrial themes, a subject he explored in earlier works like E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind—both of which earned him Oscar nominations
