Dalston Soda Company, known for its premium fizzy drinks available in retailers such as Waitrose and Asda, is issuing a recall on its Pineapple Soda cans due to safety concerns. The FSA highlighted the danger, explaining that the cans could break apart suddenly, leaving sharp edges that pose a risk. Dalston Soda Company linked the issue to a packaging defect and advised customers who purchased the affected products not to consume them. Consumers were strongly urged not to return the recalled items to stores. However, the company is offering a full refund to anyone who owns the impacted cans, even if the original purchase receipt is missing. The recall specifically targets cans bearing the best before date of 4 August 2027, with batch code 037130 for single cans and 037129 for multipacks. Dalston Soda emphasized that other products in their range remain unaffected by this issue.
The soda brand originated in Dalston, east London, created by chefs from the now-closed Passing Clouds nightclub. This incident follows previous recalls of carbonated drinks, such as the 2023 case when presenter Jeremy Clarkson withdrew certain batches of his Hawkstone cider due to a potential explosion risk from glass bottles
