Rescue efforts are ongoing after a 15-year-old boy was reported missing in a lake located within a nature reserve in Lincoln. The incident occurred at Swanholme Lakes, where emergency services were alerted around 14:30 BST on Sunday following reports that the boy was struggling in the water.
Lincolnshire Police confirmed that despite intense search operations by both bystanders and emergency teams, the boy has yet to be found. The underwater search team has been deployed to assist in the ongoing efforts to locate him. Authorities have also informed the boy’s family and expressed their sympathy during what they described as an exceptionally difficult period.
Officials have requested that the public refrain from spreading speculation about the case and clarified that the boy remains missing, contradicting some reports that suggested otherwise. Swanholme Lakes, where the search is focused, is not only a popular local nature reserve but is also designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
According to the Met Office, temperatures in Lincoln reached approximately 25 degrees Celsius earlier in the day, which may have contributed to the conditions at the time of the incident. The rescue operation continues as teams work to bring the situation to a resolution
