A burglary took place at a home on Formoyle Road in Macosquin, County Londonderry, leaving a couple distressed after being restrained. The incident occurred around 01:15 BST on Saturday when two masked individuals broke into the property.
The elderly occupants, a man in his 70s and a woman in her 60s, were tied up by the intruders and forced to surrender money. Following the robbery, the culprits stole two mobile phones, a watch, and the keys to a blue Nissan Juke parked nearby.
According to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), the suspects then fled the scene, driving away in the vehicle. The car was last reportedly seen around 02:00 BST near the Moore Road area of Londonderry.
Detective Inspector Lenaghan commented on the case, noting that while neither victim suffered physical injuries, both were “badly shaken” by the experience. The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist detectives with their inquiries
