A free community event designed to raise awareness about memory issues and dementia is inviting local residents to participate. The event will also connect attendees with practical advice, support services, and local resources aimed at helping those affected by memory concerns.
Scheduled for Thursday, 21 May, from 10am to 3pm, the “Every Mind Matters” event will be held at the FireFit Hub located at 115 Upper Warwick Street, Toxteth, Liverpool, L8 8HD. This occasion welcomes everyone interested in learning more about dementia, whether they are worried about their own memory, have received a diagnosis, care for someone with dementia, or represent an organization.
Liverpool Dementia Action Alliance has partnered with Liverpool City Council, alongside various local health and community groups, to organize the event. Attendees will find a friendly and informal atmosphere where they can engage with professionals and local organizations. Information will cover topics such as dementia support, benefits guidance, legal advice, health and wellbeing, and community activities.
The goal of this event is to foster open discussions about dementia, break down stigmas, and promote early access to support for individuals, their families, and friends. Partners involved in hosting the event include Active Minds, Central Liverpool PCN, Chinese Wellbeing, Liverpool City Council Public Health, Smoke-Free Liverpool, and the Torus Foundation. Visitors can enjoy refreshments throughout the day, and no prior booking is necessary as the event is free to attend.
Councillor Harry Doyle, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Culture, emphasized the event’s importance, stating: “Dementia affects thousands of families across Liverpool, and events like this play an important role in helping people feel informed, supported and connected. Every Mind Matters is about creating a welcoming environment where residents can access advice, meet local organisations and have open conversations about memory problems and dementia without fear or stigma. We want people to know that support is available, and that nobody has to navigate these challenges alone.”
