Authorities in Devon continue with an extensive search operation to locate Taylor Charlton, a 14-year-old boy reported missing earlier this month. Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that investigators and specialist teams remain actively engaged in efforts to find him. The ongoing search activities are concentrated around the River Taw area in Barnstaple, and residents can expect to see continued police presence throughout Sunday.
Taylor, described as standing 5ft 8in tall with a muscular build, dark brown hair, and a moustache, was last seen wearing a bright blue fitted shirt, jeans, and distinctive blue Nike shoes. The teenager was last reported missing on the evening of 9 May. Police believe he might have entered the water near the Seven Brethren area around 22:40 BST on 8 May, where a pair of shoes believed to be his were recently discovered.
A coordinated effort involving multiple agencies is underway in the search for Taylor. Devon and Cornwall Police are working alongside the fire service, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), and HM Coastguard. Additionally, search and rescue teams from North Dartmoor and Exmoor have been assisting by covering a wide variety of terrains, including coastal paths, riverbanks, woodland, abandoned buildings, fields, and residential streets.
The police have praised the community for their overwhelming support and cooperation but urged the public to avoid sharing unverified information on social media. Authorities have also reminded anyone involved in the search to prioritize their safety, warning against venturing near dangerous buildings or close to the riverbanks. The investigation remains active, with officers committed to pursuing every lead to bring Taylor safely home
