King Charles III made a visit to Golders Green to show his support for the Jewish community following the recent stabbings in the area. The monarch spent time at a Jewish Care charity centre where he met both the victims and members of emergency response teams who were involved in handling the aftermath of the violence. This included those from Hatzola, a Jewish ambulance service, whose vehicles had been set on fire during related incidents. Outside the centre, King Charles greeted well-wishers and remarked on the dangers present in today’s world. The visit was also marked by his meeting with Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis, who described the royal’s presence in north London as greatly appreciated.
Gary Ost from the Shomrim community patrol spoke about the King’s concerns over the recent surge in antisemitic acts locally, emphasizing how the visit sent a strong message of solidarity to the community. As the King interacted with people gathered outside the charity centre, he jokingly hoped he had not caused too much disruption to their routines. Some attendees shared that a special Jewish blessing is traditionally said upon seeing a monarch.
These events come amid a troubling rise in antisemitic attacks, including a series of arson attempts targeting Jewish buildings such as synagogues. Authorities are currently investigating whether there may be any links to Iran.
