Edinburgh’s Quartermile district is a striking blend of contemporary architecture and historic charm, nestled between the city’s Old Town and The Meadows park. Quartermile, situated on the former Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh site, spans a quarter of a mile and has been controversial for its tall glass towers and the relocation of the hospital to a less accessible area on the city outskirts. However, it has proven commercially successful, attracting tenants such as the travel company Skyscanner and various law firms, alongside high demand for its flats. Data from the land register indicates that in the EH3 9G postcode area, which encompasses Quartermile, 369 properties were owned by Scottish residents or companies, 119 by people elsewhere in the UK, and 263 by overseas purchasers from 44 countries including Russia, the Cayman Islands, Singapore, Malaysia, and notably, Hong Kong.
