A 34-year-old man from Hornchurch, east London, has been formally charged following an incident involving attacks and antisemitic threats directed at three Jewish individuals in north London. The victims included two men, aged 58 and 26, as well as a 53-year-old woman, all of whom sustained injuries that did not require hospital treatment.
The Metropolitan Police reported that the arrest came after witnesses saw the suspect allegedly harassing, threatening, and assaulting members of the Jewish community on Southbury Road, Enfield, shortly after 1:20 a.m. on Saturday. The suspect, identified as Dylan Ossei, remains in police custody and is expected to appear at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Ossei faces multiple charges including assault, racially or religiously aggravated assault, threatening or abusive behaviour intended to cause fear or provoke violence, racially or religiously aggravated harassment, and threatening or abusive behaviour aimed at causing harassment, alarm, or distress. These charges highlight the serious nature of the offences.
Det Supt Marco Bardetti, responsible for policing in Enfield and Haringey, emphasized the Metropolitan Police’s commitment to tackling antisemitic hate crimes. He stated, “The Met has made it abundantly clear that we treat reports of alleged antisemitic hate crime with the utmost seriousness and diligence, as demonstrated by the swift arrest and charge following this incident.” Bardetti also stressed the importance of ongoing collaboration with Jewish communities across London to ensure their safety and provide reassurance in everyday life
