In Newport, three individuals have been taken into custody following a fatal collision involving a BMW and a motorbike. The incident occurred early on Thursday along Aberthaw Road, where emergency responders were promptly dispatched. Tragically, two males, believed to be the motorbike’s driver and their pillion passenger, were declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
Details of the crash reveal that after the collision, the BMW left the location prior to the arrival of the police. Subsequently, an 18-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman were apprehended on suspicion of murder. Additionally, a 24-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All three individuals are currently being held in police custody.
Law enforcement has stated that specially trained officers have been assigned to provide support to the victims’ families as the investigation moves forward. The Welsh Ambulance Service responded swiftly to the emergency, having been alerted shortly after 01:30 BST on Thursday morning. Multiple units, including two emergency ambulances, two Cymru High Acuity Response Units, and an operations manager, attended the scene to provide medical assistance.
Moreover, the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service contributed advanced critical care via a Wales Air Ambulance charity car.
