Sir Alex Ferguson was admitted to hospital after feeling unwell at Old Trafford just before Manchester United’s Premier League fixture against Liverpool on Sunday. The 84-year-old former manager’s hospitalization was described by sources as a precautionary measure rather than an urgent medical emergency.
Having led Manchester United for an impressive 27 years, Ferguson regularly watches matches from the directors’ box at the stadium. Despite being taken to hospital, there has been no additional information released regarding his current health status.
Ferguson previously suffered a brain haemorrhage in 2018, a serious condition from which he spoke about his recovery in detail three years later. Notably, he had been seen at Old Trafford earlier on match day, pictured with guests prior to kick-off.
A consultant cardiologist, Dr Aseem Malhotra, shared a photo on X of himself with Ferguson at the stadium, expressing his honor at spending time with the legendary manager before the game against Liverpool. Ferguson was transported by ambulance from the tunnel area of Old Trafford, with club officials hopeful that he will recover soon enough to return home
