Thiara acknowledges the particular expectations placed on him by the South Asian community due to his background. Speaking on set, he shared, “Because of the colour of my skin, people will identify themselves through that,” highlighting the pressure to represent thoughtfully while balancing his primary focus on delivering his role effectively.
Ravi’s character in the soap has been diagnosed with Complex PTSD (CPTSD), a condition defined by the NHS as arising from prolonged trauma, such as childhood abuse. Symptoms include tendencies towards risky behavior, feelings of emptiness, and suicidal ideation. The storyline has followed Ravi through a series of mental health crises, including breakdowns and a suicide attempt, leading to scenes where he receives care at a specialized mental health facility. Though his family supports him, there remains a reluctance to disclose his condition publicly. Thiara elaborated on this, explaining the cultural emphasis within the South Asian community on projecting strength, honor, and cultural pride, often at the expense of openly discussing mental health challenges.
