Authorities have expanded a police cordon around a building site on Flamborough Road in Plymouth from 200 meters to 400 meters after receiving reports of suspected ordnance. This decision was made following recommendations from military bomb disposal experts to ensure safety while specialist teams carry out their work. The initial alert was received around 14:30 BST by Devon and Cornwall Police, who promptly established the exclusion zone in the Southway area of Plymouth.

The public has been urged not to travel to or approach the area to allow emergency and specialist services to operate without obstruction. Residents living inside the expanded cordon are being asked to evacuate their homes and are encouraged to stay with friends or family for the next couple of nights. The council emphasized the importance of bringing essential items such as medications, medical supplies, chargers, important documents, and pet food when leaving. For individuals unable to relocate independently, the Southway Youth and Community Centre has been set up as an evacuation center offering practical support and wellbeing assistance.
