Liverpool City Council has recently introduced its twelfth Family Hub as part of an ongoing initiative to establish at least one hub in every neighbourhood across the city. This marks the sixth new Family Hub unveiled in 2026, building upon the six hubs opened in previous years. The latest facility, named the Best Start Everton Family Hub and Nursery School, was officially launched on Thursday, 23 April, celebrated with a special event to mark its opening.
Family Hubs in Liverpool evolve from the city’s established Children’s Centres and serve as accessible community spaces where families with children and young people—from birth up to age 19, or up to 25 for individuals with special educational needs or disabilities—can obtain coordinated support. These hubs offer a wide range of resources, including information, advice, and various activities designed to assist families.
Aside from the newly opened Best Start Everton Family Hub, the other eleven Family Hubs currently operating throughout Liverpool include Clubmoor, Fountains, Granby, Picton, Speke, Stoneycroft, Fazakerley, Kensington, Belle Vale, Wavertree, and Dovedale. What began as five Family Hubs has now grown to twelve, ensuring that families in every local area are able to access support without needing to travel far from home.
Cllr Joanne Kennedy, Cabinet Member for Employment, Educational Attainment & Skills at Liverpool City Council, emphasized the significance of this expansion. She remarked, “Our ambition was that every neighbourhood in Liverpool can access their own Family Hub, and this expansion means that we’re now well on our way to delivering that.” She also highlighted the strong community response at recent launch events and encouraged families to explore what their local Family Hub has to offer, underscoring that these hubs provide vital services aimed at supporting health, education, and wellbeing within a welcoming, community-focused setting
