After conducting a thorough inquiry, Surrey Police concluded that the woman who reported the rape had actually sustained an accidental head injury during a night out and had made a confused report. The victim consented to the sharing of this information, and the police emphasized that they continue to treat every allegation of sexual offenses seriously. However, the initial lack of detailed information about suspects, as per guidance from the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) regarding the disclosure of ethnicity or nationality, left a vacuum. Protests flared again, with some participants aggressively confronting riot police and mistakenly targeting unrelated local sites. Social media groups became overwhelmed with hostile content, and conspiracy theories gained traction, including unsubstantiated claims that the victim’s family was being silenced.
