Gabrielle Carrington, a 29-year-old woman from Manchester, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged with attempted murder following an incident in central London where a vehicle struck pedestrians, leaving one woman critically injured. Alongside the attempted murder charge, Carrington faces accusations of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm, and drink-driving. The court subsequently remanded her into custody.
Carrington, known for her Instagram handle RIELLEUK with over 365,000 followers, was previously part of the music group Miss Dynamix, which reached the live finals on The X Factor in 2013. The victims involved in the incident include Klaudia Zakrzewska, 30, who remains in a life-threatening condition, and Anoush Chyche, a man in his 50s who suffered severe injuries. Another woman sustained minor wounds during the event.
The Metropolitan Police responded to reports shortly after 04:30 BST on Sunday of a car hitting pedestrians on Argyll Street in Soho. The prosecution revealed that Carrington allegedly caused serious harm to security guard Anoush Chyche, resulting in what was described as “life-changing injuries.” Furthermore, she is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Latisha Armstrong, who suffered a wrist injury. Describing the scene outside a nightclub, prosecutor Rizwan Amin referred to it as a “melee” filled with shouting, noting that officers initially did not fully grasp the incident’s severity.
During the court hearing, it was disclosed that Carrington’s breath test registered 61 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres, exceeding the legal driving limit of 35 micrograms. Family and friends of Zakrzewska were present in the courtroom, witnessing the proceedings. As she was escorted from the dock, Carrington was seen making a heart gesture towards her supporters in the crowded public gallery. Her next court date is scheduled for 19 May at the Old Bailey. Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor David Malone emphasized the importance of maintaining a fair trial, urging the public to refrain from sharing any content that could prejudice the ongoing legal process
