In north-west London, police have detained three individuals in connection with a failed arson attempt targeting the offices of a Persian language media group. The event took place in Wembley on Wednesday evening at approximately 20:30 BST, when an ignited container was hurled towards the building. Fortunately, no injuries or damage were reported as a result of the incident.
Following the attack, officers pursued a black SUV suspected of being involved. The chase culminated on Ballards Lane, where the vehicle crashed and a 16-year-old boy along with two men aged 19 and 21 were apprehended on suspicion of arson endangering life. The ignited container had landed in a nearby car park and was quickly extinguished, limiting any potential harm.
Authorities emphasized that the incident is not being classified as terrorism at this stage, and it does not appear to have any connection to other recent arson events occurring in north London. Despite this, detectives from Counter Terrorism Policing London are heading the investigation with assistance from local police teams. Several surrounding buildings were evacuated as a safety measure but were reopened shortly after authorities confirmed there was no ongoing threat to the public.
