Dan Walker, the television presenter, is set to face an employment tribunal following allegations of bullying made by his former co-host on Channel 5 News, Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije. The case also involves ITN, the company responsible for producing Channel 5 News, as well as its parent company, Paramount, according to Vanderpuije’s legal representative.
An ITN spokesperson stated to BBC News that the allegations are completely denied. Both Walker and Paramount have been contacted for their responses. Reports from the Mail on Sunday, quoting an insider, indicate that Walker contests the claims and has gathered over 50 character witness statements in his defense.
It has been reported that a prior internal inquiry into the accusations did not substantiate any wrongdoing by Walker. The upcoming tribunal is scheduled to begin in London on 20 April and is expected to last for five weeks, as confirmed by Vanderpuije’s lawyer, Jonathan Coad.
Walker, known for his previous appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, started co-hosting Channel 5 News alongside Vanderpuije in 2022. Vanderpuije subsequently departed from the program in 2024. Additionally, ITN’s CEO, Rachel Corp, has been named as a respondent in the case. An ITN spokesperson reiterated that the claim is strongly denied and will be addressed through the proper tribunal proceedings
