Ryan Reynolds' Welcome To Wrexham TV series renewal agreed

The popular streaming series *Welcome To Wrexham*, which documents the remarkable resurgence of the football club Wrexham AFC, has been extended for an additional three seasons. This show has captured the journey of the team as it climbed through the ranks, achieving consecutive promotions from the National League to the Championship, since its acquisition by Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds and actor Rob McElhenney.

The ultimate goal for Reynolds and McElhenney, who purchased the club in February 2021 for £2 million, is to elevate Wrexham into the Premier League—a feat that would place the team just one tier above its current standing. The club is presently positioned near the Championship’s play-off spots, which offers them a pathway toward achieving that ambition.

Announcing the renewal of the series to his 50 million Instagram followers, Ryan Reynolds shared, “Season five premieres May 14 and we’ve been renewed for three more.” He further praised the team behind the documentary, saying, “Congrats to our Emmy-winning doc team, the town, and Wrexham AFC for always making things so dramatic and stressy. Good for TV, bad for blood pressure.” The series, which began airing in 2022 and is available on Disney+ in the UK, has since earned significant critical acclaim, including 10 Emmy Awards and two Critics’ Choice Television Awards.

Wrexham’s manager, Phil Parkinson, highlighted the positive impact of the owners’ involvement, noting last year that “the presence of both men at the club lifts the whole place.” The series continues to follow the club’s progress under Reynolds and McElhenney’s ownership, showcasing both the internal ambitions and the broader community excitement that surrounds Wrexham AFC’s ongoing quest to reach the Premier League
