Tenby station stabbing leaves four injured and two arrested

Four individuals were hospitalized following a stabbing incident that occurred during a disturbance at a railway station. The event took place at Tenby station in Pembrokeshire on Tuesday evening, resulting in four people sustaining stab wounds.

Two young males, aged 16 and 19, were apprehended on suspicion of assault with intent and are currently held in custody. Authorities reported that a knife was involved in the altercation, leading to the injuries sustained by those involved. Fortunately, police have confirmed that none of the wounds are believed to be life-threatening.

Dyfed-Powys Police acknowledged the concerns this event might raise within the community and assured residents of an increased police presence to help maintain safety. Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Davies said: “We understand an incident of this nature will cause concern in the community, and while we believe it to be an isolated incident, passengers will notice an increased presence of officers in the area who are there to provide reassurance.” The British Transport Police have initiated a comprehensive investigation and are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

In response to the incident, Tenby’s town council expressed gratitude toward the emergency services and addressed recent trouble involving groups of youths in the area, which have included disorder and criminal damage alongside a serious assault. The council emphasized that such behaviour does not represent the town’s spirit or the values of the majority of its young residents. They also highlighted Tenby as a welcoming and close-knit community that attracts around two million visitors annually. Meanwhile, Transport for Wales indicated that train services, which experienced disruptions west of Carmarthen earlier in the evening, have since returned to normal
