Murder arrest after man found fatally injured in Beaumont Leys Park

A man aged 33 has been detained on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a fatally injured individual in a park located in Leicester. Authorities responded to the incident shortly before 7:00 pm BST on Monday after the East Midlands Ambulance Service was alerted to an unconscious man in Beaumont Leys Park, near a local retail zone.

The victim, a 62-year-old, was transported to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries, according to Leicestershire Police. To facilitate a thorough investigation, officers have cordoned off an area between Krefeld Way and Beaumont Way to examine the scene and identify any witnesses who may have information about the event.

Detective Inspector Kevin Hames, representing the East Midlands Murder Investigation Team, stated, “We are in the very early stages of our investigation into the incident and the events leading up to it.” He also confirmed that the victim’s family has been located and is receiving support from specialist officers during this challenging period.

Additionally, Detective Inspector Hames urged members of the public who were in the vicinity during the evening to come forward if they witnessed anything relevant. “We know it’s not always easy to report what you may have seen or heard, but it’s vitally important we speak to as many people as possible,” he explained. Efforts to gather evidence include reviewing CCTV footage and conducting door-to-door inquiries in the surrounding area
