Afghan asylum seeker jailed for raping girl, 12, in Nuneaton

Ahmad Mulakhil, an asylum seeker from Afghanistan, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison after being convicted of abducting and raping a 12-year-old girl. The incident took place last summer in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, and sparked public protests in the area.

Last month, jurors delivered a guilty verdict against the 23-year-old, finding him responsible for multiple offenses including rape, abduction, sexual assault, and the creation of an indecent video. Prior to the trial at Warwick Crown Court in February, Mulakhil had also admitted to the rape of a child under the age of 13.
