Starting Monday, 30 March, highway improvement activities will commence along Queens Drive. These works will focus on installing new drainage systems between Aigburth Vale and North Mossley Hill Road. Additionally, drainage enhancements will take place on North Mossley Hill Road, specifically between Ibbotson’s Lane and Queens Drive.
To minimize inconvenience for local residents, commuters, and traffic, the schedule for these activities has been arranged to coincide with the school half-term break. The project is expected to conclude by Tuesday, 14 April, at which point the affected roads will reopen to the public.
For safety and operational reasons, there will be temporary road closures. Queens Drive eastbound will be closed between Aigburth Vale and North Mossley Hill Road. Likewise, both directions of North Mossley Hill Road will be closed between Penny Lane and Queens Drive. Furthermore, Park Avenue, stretching from Aigburth Vale to Mossley Hill Drive, will be shut to facilitate the setup of the site compound. This particular closure will extend until the entirety of the related works is finished in mid-August.
Motorists are encouraged to anticipate delays, allocate extra time for travel, and seek alternative routes when possible. These improvements are part of a larger initiative by the Council aimed at upgrading key transportation corridors in the city. Alongside ongoing work on Speke Hall Road, the projects intend to decrease the frequency of maintenance and reduce the need for unplanned road repairs moving forward
