UK weather: Spring to make comeback with warmest day of year forecast

The UK has experienced a spell of cold weather recently, with Arctic air keeping temperatures below ten degrees in many areas. Alongside this chill, some regions have encountered wintry showers and snow, especially across higher elevations, giving the impression that winter conditions had returned.

Looking ahead to this week, a shift in the weather is expected as warmer air from the Mediterranean is drawn northwards by southerly winds. This change will bring a noticeable rise in temperatures, with Wednesday forecasting values about six to seven degrees above the seasonal average.

In both England and Wales, people can anticipate temperatures climbing into the mid to high teens Celsius. Particularly in Wales, the day is likely to mark the warmest temperature recorded so far this year—potentially surpassing the previous high of 17.8°C that was registered at Porthmadog on March 5th.

There is also a chance that some locations in the Midlands, northwest England, or northwest Wales could approach or even reach around 20°C. Should this happen, it might set a new record for the UK’s highest temperature of the year, currently held at 19.2°C in London earlier this March
