Former professional footballer Joey Barton was apprehended along with another individual following an assault incident close to a golf club. The event occurred on Sunday at 9 pm GMT in the Fairway area, near Huyton and Prescot Golf Club, located in Merseyside.
When law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a man suffering from injuries to his face and ribs, according to a statement from Merseyside Police. Authorities detained a 50-year-old and a 43-year-old on suspicion of causing wounding, and both remain in custody undergoing questioning.
The injured individual was transported to hospital for medical evaluation of the damage sustained to his facial area and ribs. During a High Court session related to a libel case involving Barton, lawyer Gervase de Wilde, representing former England player Eni Aluko, revealed that his instructing solicitor had been contacted by a duty solicitor from a Liverpool police station shortly before proceedings began.
