A serious incident occurred at the Nottingham University Academy of Science and Technology (NUAST) in Nottingham on Thursday, when a teenage boy was stabbed on school premises. Nottinghamshire Police responded to the scene at 13:36 GMT after receiving reports of the stabbing. The injured student, aged 15, was promptly taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment, where his injuries are described as serious.
Authorities have confirmed that the suspect, also 15 years old, was arrested at the location. A police spokesperson emphasized that both the victim and the suspect were known to each other, and there is no indication of a larger threat toward other pupils at the school. The police have thus reassured the public that this incident appears to be isolated.
Superintendent Chris Pearson expressed his concern over the distress caused by the event, stating that the police are cooperating closely with NUAST. He noted, “A 15-year-old boy has sustained a stab injury and been sent to QMC for treatment. His injuries are currently believed to be serious.” Pearson added that specially trained officers are supporting the victim’s family while investigations continue. He further explained that, based on current information, the incident does not seem connected to any national social media trends known as ‘School Wars.’
Following the stabbing, NUAST’s head teacher, Dave Thompson, sent a letter to parents confirming that the school would be closed on Friday due to the ongoing police investigation. He described the day as “incredibly traumatic” for the entire school community and reassured that assistance would be made available to both students and staff in the aftermath of the event
