Remains found three years after Ben Nevis walker reported missing

Human remains have been located on Ben Nevis during the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of a walker from three years ago. The individual, Harvey Christian, originally from Cambridgeshire, was believed to have been on the mountain in January 2023 when he went missing.

Search efforts for the 42-year-old included mountain rescue teams working alongside a coastguard helicopter and a dedicated search and rescue dog unit, all operating in difficult conditions. The discovery of the remains occurred on a Saturday, and while formal identification has not yet been completed, Police Scotland confirmed that Christian’s family has been informed of the development.

There is no indication of any suspicious activity surrounding the circumstances of the case. Harvey Christian was first reported missing on 27 January 2023. Following his disappearance, his vehicle—a black Vauxhall Crossland X—was located parked in a layby located in Glen Nevis.

Authorities continue to treat the case with care as they await formal identification to confirm the identity of the remains found. The search and rescue efforts highlight the challenges faced in mountainous terrain, particularly under adverse weather conditions
