Jet2 hands passengers life ban after mid-air fight

Jet2 has imposed lifetime bans on two passengers following an altercation aboard a flight traveling from Turkey. The incident occurred on flight LS896, which was en route from Antalya to Manchester, but had to make an unscheduled stop in Brussels due to the severe misconduct of the two individuals involved.

Video footage circulating on social media showed the pair shouting and engaging in a physical fight in the aisle, with both other passengers and crew members attempting to intervene. The disruption was deemed serious enough to force an emergency landing in the Belgian capital.

Upon landing, Belgian police detained the two men, who were reportedly still intoxicated at the time. Authorities took their identities, photographs, and fingerprints, and have filed an official report citing intentional assault and battery. The men were later released and allowed to continue their journey. The public prosecutor’s office confirmed that the investigation remains active and appropriate legal measures will follow.

Jet2 expressed strong condemnation of the behavior, emphasizing its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy regarding disruptive passengers. A spokesperson stated, “As a family-friendly airline we take a zero-tolerance approach to disruptive passenger behaviour and we are very sorry that other customers and our colleagues onboard had to experience this too.” The airline also announced it intends to seek compensation for the costs incurred due to the diversion caused by the incident
