A serious collision occurred on the Ballyrobin Road, a key route leading to Belfast International Airport, shortly before 8:00 GMT on Saturday morning. The incident involved a black Citroen C1 and one of Translink’s airport bus services.
Tragically, Claudia Jaczyk, a 23-year-old woman from the Newtownabbey area who was driving the Citroen, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the bus, a man in his 60s, sustained serious injuries but is not believed to be in life-threatening condition and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Translink issued a statement confirming that one of their airport buses was part of the collision. They emphasized their cooperation with the police and other authorities during the ongoing investigation. “Our thoughts are with all those affected by this incident. The safety and well-being of our passengers and staff is our priority,” the spokesperson added.
The Ballyrobin Road was temporarily closed due to the crash but was reopened on Sunday. Authorities have urged anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward and provide information to assist with the investigation
