A fatal incident occurred in Omagh, County Tyrone, where a man lost his life following a collision involving a lorry. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) received notification of the accident shortly after 10:20 GMT on Monday, reporting that an industrial worker had been involved on Donaghanie Road.
Emergency services promptly responded to the scene, with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) dispatching a rapid response paramedic, two emergency crews, and a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) crew. Additionally, the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) attended, alongside representatives from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Tragically, the man was pronounced dead at the site of the collision. Due to the severity of the incident, Donaghanie Road remains closed and is expected to stay that way overnight. Authorities have urged the public to steer clear of the area to allow emergency responders to carry out their work safely.
The PSNI has issued an appeal for witnesses or anyone with relevant footage of the crash to come forward to assist with their ongoing investigation. They continue to manage the scene and gather information to understand the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision
