A 2009 email from the then-Duchess of York expresses enthusiasm about recent developments for her commercial ventures and thanks Epstein in heartfelt terms: “Thank you Jeffrey for being the brother I have always wished for.” The following year, another message shows even deeper affection, with Ferguson writing to Epstein, “You are a legend. I really don’t have the words to describe, my love, gratitude for your generosity and kindness,” followed by the phrase, “Xx I am at your service. Just marry me.”
The documents also imply that Epstein sought Ferguson’s help to clear his reputation after his legal troubles. Following the 2008 plea deal, in which Epstein avoided federal charges for sex trafficking by pleading guilty to lesser state offenses and serving 13 months in jail, an email from 2011 reportedly quotes Epstein saying, “I think Fergie can now say, I am not a pedo.” The message claims Ferguson was “DUPED into believing false stories” and could explain she had been told “horrible things and she reacted.” Epstein’s publicist, Mike Sitrick, mentioned a strategy to “get newspapers to stop calling you a pedophile” and suggested that Ferguson might be persuaded to retract statements as part of this plan. A month later, “Sarah” wrote back to Epstein denying she ever called him a “P” and asserting she acted to “protect my own brand.”
Another revealing exchange from 2009 involves Ferguson requesting urgent financial help due to rent issues following a failed business attempt. Her email to Epstein stated, “I urgently need 20,000 pounds ($27,521) for rent today. The landlord has threatened to go to the newspapers if I don’t pay. Any brainwaves?” This request was part of a conversation involving Epstein and David Stern, former NBA commissioner and attorney. Epstein warned about a “rat,” speculating that a leak could have come from disgruntled investors or creditors, advising caution in how to respond publicly. Ferguson identified an investor who had “broken a confidentiality agreement” and confirmed that her lawyer was handling the situation. The conversation ends abruptly after her declaration of needing the funds. Correspondence elsewhere also includes lawyers’ letters about settlements to manage her debts and Epstein claiming to have supported her financially for 15 years.
