Green Party leader Zack Polanski has reiterated his support for the legalisation and regulation of drugs, advocating for a “public health approach” to drug use. He emphasized that such a strategy would provide individuals struggling with drug-related issues access to help from healthcare professionals.
During an appearance on the Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg programme, Polanski outlined his vision for addressing drug problems through medical assistance rather than criminalisation. He highlighted the importance of supporting those with problematic drug use in a compassionate and health-focused manner.
Polanski also responded to recent remarks made by Sir Keir Starmer, who accused him of being “high on drugs, soft on Putin.” Describing these comments as “disgraceful” and “a cheap joke,” Polanski firmly rejected the accusation. Furthermore, he clarified that he has never used drugs or consumed alcohol, stating that it simply “wasn’t for me.”
