At Warwick Crown Court, a disturbing case was presented involving a 12-year-old girl who was targeted by two Afghan men in Nuneaton. The prosecution detailed how Mohammad Kabir attempted to abduct the girl in a quiet cul-de-sac during the evening of July 22, 2025, even trying to strangle her in the process. A few hours later, Ahmad Mulakhil allegedly sexually assaulted the child.
Barrister Daniel Oscroft emphasized during the trial that the victim was clearly a very young and vulnerable individual. Mulakhil, aged 23, has admitted to one count of raping a child under 13 but denies two other charges and additional allegations. Kabir, 24, rejects all accusations, including the attempted abduction charge.
During the prosecution’s opening statement, Oscroft described the two men as acquaintances who seemingly conspired to target the girl. He explained that Kabir’s actions involved trying to persuade her to go with him—constituting attempted abduction—and physically grabbing her neck in an act legally classified as strangulation, although this does not necessarily mean choking. Kabir was reportedly accompanied by Mulakhil at the time.
The prosecution argued that Kabir’s intention must have had a sexual motive, asking the jury what other explanation could exist for such behaviour.
