An artistic model of TV presenter Claudia Winkleman has recently been added to a garden fence by local creator Sharon Kulesa. This new effigy is inspired by the popularity of the latest season of the TV show The Traitors, which came to an end last Friday. Kulesa, who lives in Stowmarket, Suffolk, has made several similar sculptures, with her fence previously featuring figures such as Queen Elizabeth II and musician Ed Sheeran.
Sharon Kulesa explained her choice, saying, “Claudia is so iconic looking, and I think people love her, and I like to do something on the fence that’s quite relevant to what’s going on at the moment.” She also expressed her hope that Winkleman would appreciate the tribute, adding, “I think she’d find it hilarious. I think she’d be quite tickled by it, really.”
Kulesa began creating life-sized models of well-known personalities during the COVID-19 pandemic, with her first piece being a representation of then Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Since that time, her fence has displayed an array of figures, including the King, Ipswich Town football manager Kieran McKenna, and even Snow White. She enjoys the positive reactions from the local community, particularly children, given the fence’s location along a main route to a primary school.
The sculptures are typically crafted using a basic framework that includes a mannequin, stuffed tights, and a head constructed from newspaper, kitchen foil, and masking tape. To keep expenses low, Kulesa sources most of the outfits from charity shops and online second-hand platforms like Vinted. Among residents, Matt Jerome, who moved to Stowmarket in 2024, has become a fan of the models, especially fond of the Disney character Stitch. Commenting on the creations, he said, “I do always look forward to seeing what might end up on the fence next, but Oz probably doesn’t agree as he always gets a jumpscare whenever there’s a new one.” Looking ahead, Kulesa is considering making a model of Winnie-the-Pooh in celebration of the character’s 100th birthday, though she acknowledges that the project will be more time-consuming due to the character’s size
