Five more Family Hubs opening in Liverpool

Liverpool is preparing to welcome five additional Family Hubs throughout January and February, further expanding local support services for families. The first of these new hubs, located at Belle Vale Children’s Centre, will officially open with a celebration event on Wednesday, 28 January. The event aims to offer a welcoming environment for all, featuring a variety of family-friendly activities alongside opportunities to obtain advice, information, and support. Attendees can also enjoy provided food and refreshments, with no prior booking required—families are encouraged simply to drop in.

Following the launch of the Belle Vale Family Hub, four more hubs will open over the coming weeks: Stoneycroft on 4 February, Dovedale on 17 February, Fazakerley on 18 February, and Wavertree on 19 February. Once these hubs are operational, the total number of Family Hubs across Liverpool will have doubled, reflecting the council’s commitment to establishing such resource centers within every neighbourhood.

Prior to the opening of Kensington Family Hub last November, Liverpool had five Family Hubs in operation. The city council’s goal is to increase this figure to twelve, ensuring that families throughout the city have convenient access to dedicated spaces offering coordinated support. These hubs build upon the established foundation of Liverpool’s Children’s Centres and provide services for families with children and young people up to age 19—or up to 25 for those with special educational needs or disabilities.

Cllr Joanne Kennedy, Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Employment, Educational Attainment & Skills, highlighted the council’s vision by stating: “Our ambition is that every neighbourhood in Liverpool can access their own Family Hub, and this expansion means that we’re now delivering that. Family Hubs are there to ensure families can find a multitude of resources and activities designed to support their health, education, and wellbeing, in a supportive environment. Please go and visit your local Family Hub once it’s open to find out more about the services they can offer.”
