Positive News launches new podcast about people turning ideals into action

Positive News has launched a new five-part podcast series titled *The Purpose Pioneers*, which highlights leaders who are driving meaningful change by prioritizing purpose over profit. The series delves into the real-life stories of individuals who are redefining success through their commitment to values and social impact, exploring what it means to translate ideals into tangible action in today’s world of growing purpose fatigue.

Hosted by Sarah LaBrecque, the podcast features heartfelt conversations with pioneers from diverse sectors such as nature restoration, disability inclusion, ethical transport, sustainable finance, and consumer goods. Guests include Steve Micklewright, CEO of the rewilding charity Trees for Life; Stephanie Wheen, founder and CEO of the disability-inclusive charity Gympanzees; Keith Bradbury, co-founder of electric coach company Ember; Mark Constantine, co-founder and CEO of ethical cosmetics brand Lush; and Mark Clayton, CEO of values-led bank Triodos. Each episode is crafted around three pivotal moments in their journeys: the tipping point when their purpose became undeniable, the moment of joy when their impact became clear, and their vision for the future influence of their work.

Rather than providing managerial advice or quick fixes, the podcast focuses on the human experience of pioneering purpose-led initiatives. LaBrecque explains that the series arose from a desire to move beyond abstract discussions about sustainability and purpose, instead highlighting what it truly takes to build and sustain meaningful enterprises over time. Despite their fields being vastly different, she notes a shared thread among the interviewees: a conviction that work should be a force for good, centered not on unchecked growth but on questions of impact, responsibility, and legacy.

The release of *The Purpose Pioneers* also marks the return of The Positive News Podcast, extending the publication’s award-winning solutions journalism into audio and video formats. The series is sponsored by Triodos Bank, an institution known for funding socially and environmentally responsible projects while avoiding harmful investments. Zoe Ruthven, Triodos Bank’s director of marketing and communications, explains that the partnership reflects a mutual urgency to spotlight hopeful stories that inspire and empower. With episodes released weekly starting 20 January 2026, the series is available on all major podcast platforms and serves as a reminder that organizations of any size can contribute to a fairer, more regenerative future
