Last year in Paisley, Renfrewshire, a man was recorded on CCTV wielding a chainsaw in a terrifying incident involving police officers. Liridon Kastrati, age 32, has now been sentenced to ten years in prison for attempting to murder a police officer after he chased the officer with the dangerous power tool. The incident occurred on 6 May 2024, and Kastrati denied the single charge of attempting to murder four officers, although he was ultimately convicted.
During the sentencing hearing, Kastrati reacted aggressively, shouting expletives and accusing both the judge and Scotland of being “terrorist.” Despite this outburst, the court backdated his sentence to commence in May 2024.
