Central Library to host special film screening of The Librarians

Later this month, Liverpool Central Library will present a special screening of a newly released documentary in collaboration with the Liverpool Doc Club. This event is scheduled for 22 January and will include more than just the film; attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion and a Q&A session. The panel will feature representatives from Liverpool Central Library as well as academics from the University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University, and Liverpool Hope University.

The documentary, titled *The Librarians* and directed by Kim A. Snyder, runs for 90 minutes and explores the recent surge in book banning across the United States. It highlights the courageous efforts of librarians who have actively resisted censorship, advocating for democracy and the protection of intellectual freedom.

Liverpool Doc Club, the organisation behind the screening, is an initiative operated by Imagine Futures CIC. This screening marks the group’s inaugural event, with plans to expand to additional venues in the future. The film showing will take place in the Discover space of Liverpool Central Library from 6pm to 8pm.

Admission to the *The Librarians* screening is free, but interested participants are encouraged to reserve tickets in advance. For further details about Liverpool Central Library’s events, programmes, and services, visitors can explore the Liverpool City Council’s official website
