The family of Masrob Ali, a 54-year-old taxi driver from Blackburn, is grappling with shock after he lost his life in a devastating head-on collision on Wigan Road in Bolton. The tragic accident, which occurred on Sunday, also claimed the lives of three teenagers from Bolton—Muhammad Danyaal Asghar Ali, 19, Farhan Patel, 18, and Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar, 18. Humayra Ali, Masrob’s 29-year-old daughter, described the overwhelming grief her family is experiencing, sharing that it feels like “a bad dream” and reflecting on her father’s final moments with deep sorrow.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, which involved a red Seat Leon and Masrob’s Citroen C4 Picasso colliding at approximately 00:45 GMT. In the aftermath, five passengers from both vehicles are receiving medical treatment in hospital. Among those injured in the Citroen, a woman aged 29 suffered potentially life-threatening injuries, while two others—a 28-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man—sustained serious injuries. A fourth passenger, a 29-year-old man, suffered minor injuries. Additionally, an 18-year-old male passenger in the Seat remains hospitalized with minor injuries.
Humayra Ali expressed her heartbreak over her father’s passing, praising his character and work ethic. Speaking to BBC Manchester, she said, “He was just a really good man – anyone would say so… People have come back to tell me that he had the gentlest soul, he’s hard-working – and he was very hard-working right until his last breath.” She also shared the family’s desire to expedite funeral arrangements amidst their grief. Masrob Ali leaves behind his wife, four children, and a daughter-in-law, all of whom are mourning the profound loss.
Detective Inspector Andrew Page commented on the ongoing investigation, emphasizing that it remains in its early stages and that efforts are focused on uncovering all details of the incident.
